A meeting between Rajesh Kumar, Trade Representative of the Embassy of India, and Belarusian businesses took place at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The business entities present at the event expressed genuine interest and concrete proposals for developing cooperation and implementing joint projects. Present were leaders and representatives of Belarusian enterprises and organizations from industrial production, light and food industries, trade, and other sectors.
Welcoming Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Elena Malinovskaya noted that the Chamber attaches great importance to developing trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of India.
"Cooperation between our countries is developing quite dynamically; our relations have a long-standing, friendly character, based on similar views on the world order, ideological principles, and a shared assessment of the situation on many international issues," emphasized Elena Malinovskaya.
Rajesh Kumar, for his part, spoke about specific steps taken recently in trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and India.
For example, cooperation has been established between the Minsk Tractor Works and the Indian company Sonalika. The companies agreed to exchange parts and technologies and expressed their intention to sign a memorandum on establishing assembly plants for Indian tractors in Belarus and Belarusian tractors in India. Another Indian company is interested in collaborating with BelAZ.
"All this increases trade between India and Belarus by hundreds of millions of dollars," stated the Indian Embassy representative.
Furthermore, the countries are working to eliminate existing barriers in trade and economic cooperation, such as strict visa regimes, market overregulation, and difficulties in mutual settlements. Many issues can be resolved through Belarus and India's participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for its part, is ready to continue providing comprehensive support to Belarusian and Indian businesses across a wide range of areas.
