Business breakfast with a diplomat. Discovering Uzbekistan
19 March 2026

On March 19, as part of the implementation of the 2026 BelCCI Membership Card, the Brest branch of the BelCCI, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a new event – “Business Breakfast with a Diplomat”. This online meeting focused on cooperation with Uzbekistan and opened a series of events featuring the heads of Belarusian missions abroad and foreign diplomats accredited in Belarus.

The meeting was addressed by Alexander Sergeevich Ogorodnikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan, a diplomat with extensive experience in the foreign economic sphere.

Alexander Sergeevich shared the most relevant information with the participants, including practical insights on the Uzbek market, trade barriers, logistics, and cultural nuances of doing business, and answered their questions. Some of these questions were left out of the event and will be addressed through subsequent direct contacts with embassy staff. During the discussion, the most effective exhibition venues, as well as specialised B2G and B2B platforms, were suggested.

According to Alexander Sergeevich, Uzbekistan's chambers of commerce and industry, including their regional branches, can also play a significant role in establishing cooperation.

About 60 business representatives from all regions of the country participated in the event. Participants demonstrated a strong interest in promoting Belarusian exports to Uzbekistan. The companies' need for up-to-date information on market potential, trade practices, and useful contacts in the region was clear.

The meeting was announced in advance of the economic forum and workshop “Belarus - Central Asia: Pathways to Cooperation,” which will be held on June 18, 2026, in Brest. As organisers, we hope to formulate the programme for the upcoming forum taking into account the most pressing issues of interest to Belarusian businesses in their work with the Central Asian region.
